HETiA Supports and Participates in the Forum “European Defence Innovation and the Dual-Use Imperative”
Hellenic Emerging Technologies Industry Association (HETiA) supported and participated in the Forum “European Defence Innovation and the Dual-Use Imperative”, held on 26 June 2026 at the JOIST Innovation Park in Larissa.
The Forum convened representatives from government, industry, academia and the innovation ecosystem to examine the evolving landscape of European defence innovation and the strategic role of dual-use technologies in enhancing resilience, technological sovereignty and cross-sector collaboration.
Representing HETiA, Professor George Stamoulis, Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Thessaly, participated as a speaker in the panel discussion:
“Dual-Use Innovation from the Ground Up: The Civilian Perspective”
Moderated by Dr. Ioannis Tolias, Managing Partner at Innovatia Systems, the panel brought together leading experts from industry, academia and the defence innovation ecosystem to discuss how civilian technologies can accelerate defence innovation, strengthen technology transfer and foster collaboration across research organisations, businesses and public institutions.
The discussion highlighted the growing importance of dual-use technologies in addressing both civilian and defence challenges, while emphasizing the need for closer cooperation between industry, academia, research organisations and public stakeholders to accelerate innovation and strengthen Europe’s technological capabilities.
Through its participation in the Forum, HETiA reaffirmed its commitment to fostering collaboration across the emerging technologies ecosystem and supporting initiatives that promote innovation, technology transfer and stronger links between research and industry at both national and European level.
