Summary / Role Purpose

The R&D Engineer II contributes to the support and development of software products and systems. Think silicon, an Applied Materials’ company,is seeking an experienced architect with a strong hardware background to  architect and model a highly scalable deep learning accelerator for our  next-generation GPUs and AI Processors. In this role, you will collaborate with cross-functional engineering and product teams to identify and gather requirements and you will partner with eams to model and architect novel accelerators, and systems.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Build functional, performance  models in C/C++ for AI accelerators
  • Responsible for the architecture and micro-architecture specification development
  • Accountable for performance estimation and modeling of AI workloads
  • Collaborate closely with other key software and hardware architects on architectural pathfinding, definition of system/hardware architectural specification.
  • Responsible for conducting sector research  on trend and custom requirements for machine learning algorithms and accelerators

 

Required Skills:

We expect a candidate to have the following skills:

  • Strong foundation in computer architecture, micro-architecture design and performance analysis with an emphasis on hardware/software co-design.
  • Strong software skills and proficiency in C/C++ and a scripting language such as Python.
  • Experience working on performance model development and experimentation (GPU or CPU)
  • Knowledge and experience with AI benchmarks and workloads
  • Experience on hardware and RTL implementation (System Verilog) is a big plus
  • Knowledge in compiler design and machine learning compiler optimizations
  • Strong communication, influence and negotiation skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a team

 

Preferred Skills:

  • Ability to understand and solve problems leveraging cross-stack optimizations from algorithms to silicon
  • Experience in Deep Learning frameworks like (PyTorch, TensorFlow is a big plus)
  • Self-directed, ability to work with minimal supervision

Job Description:

As an Embedded Software Engineer in the Embedded Operating System team, you will work to bring the company’s in-house operating system to new generations of positioning receivers. You will be involved in full development cycle of the positioning receivers utilizing the OS, from participating in studies and requirement engineering, to implementation, verification, delivery and maintenance.

Embedded Operating System team is a part of the Embedded Systems value unit which consists of several cross-functional teams and is responsible for software that boots up u-blox receivers and manages their resources. Members of the Operating System team are working within the value unit’s cross-functional teams, providing OS expertise. You will have opportunities to get out of the comfort zone and explore adjacent topics that the value team is working on, which can be outside of the OS domain.

In your daily work, you will be using Agile approach, collaborating with other developers through Teams, Confluence, Jira, Gitlab, wiki and Jama. You will mainly program in C but will also use assembler for ARM (Thumb2), Python, Perl, and C++.

To be successful in this role, you need to be comfortable in finding your way in a complex codebase, identifying main components and discerning interfaces from their implementation. You should be experienced with code reviews and collaboration on a shared codebase. Proficiency with embedded system design specifics (SW, HW) and OS internal mechanisms: drivers, networking, memory management, persistent storage, task scheduling and IPC, etc., is required. In addition, a good general understanding of digital electronics is beneficial, as well as being able to read schematics and use soldering iron. RESEARCH PROJECT MANAGER  – REFERENCE: Libra001

 

Overview

We are seeking a mid- or senior-level Research Project Manager with expertise in AI and Machine Learning to join our innovative R&D team. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing EU-funded and national Research and innovation projects, contributing to the full project lifecycle from proposal to development and delivery of cutting-edge Data Science solutions in a variety of application areas. This position offers the opportunity to being at the cutting edge of Machine Learning and AI collaborating with esteemed partners across Europe and beyond.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Lead management of EU-funded (H2020 and Horizon Europe) and national projects.
  • Design and analyze budgets, managing project financial aspects.
  • Dive into technical requirements, system architecture, and solution implementation.
  • Monitoring funding opportunities, developing innovative concepts in the field, proposal writing.
  • Attending events such as project meetings, exhibitions and conferences in Greece and abroad.
  • Reporting on both technical and management level on the projects through deliverables, technical and management reports.

 

Desired Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Electrical / Computer Engineering, IT, or a related field.
  • Solid grasp of Machine Learning and AI concepts.
  • At least two years of experience in project management, preferably with EU-funded projects.
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills, paired with innovative and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Excellent communication and networking abilities.
  • Fluency in English, both spoken and written.
  • Willingness to travel and explore new horizons.
  • A Master’s Degree in a relevant field or experience in proposal writing is a plus.
