JOB DESCRIPTION:

Next Generation WiFi-based Positioning
We are currently offering products and solutions in indoor wireless positioning, e.g. asset tracking, using Bluetooth (BLE)-enabled radio technology. This is accomplished by making use of direction finding (DF) capabilities based on angle-of-arrival (AoA) estimation of wireless signals received from multiple antenna arrays. There is also a continuous demand for investigating new techniques and integrating new wireless technologies, in order to enrich our future portfolio in wireless indoor positioning.
The aim of this project is to study next generation wireless positioning techniques based on recent advancements of WiFi technology (e.g., IEEE 802.11ax, 802.11az, 802.11be) that make use of high frequencies and much large bandwidths to advance connectivity. With these enablers, the position estimation accuracy is enhanced combined with some more sophisticated algorithms and localization techniques.

 

TASKS:

  • Identification of new capabilities and features of the recently introduced WiFi protocols, e.g. 802.11ax, 802.11bd
  • Literature search of the latest wireless positioning techniques using WiFi technology (e.g. 802.11az) and their advantages against the state-of-the-art
  • Computer-based simulations (preferably in MATLAB) demonstrating the increased positioning accuracy of such a system
  • Fine tuning and optimization of system parameters in practical indoor environments with high channel variations

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Undergraduate Students of Greek University’s (eligible to perform internship as per school curriculum)
  • Strong background in digital communications and wireless air interfaces (e.g. WiFi, BLE)
  • Familiar with digital receiver design and signal processing techniques
  • Knowledge of wireless positioning methods (e.g. trilateration, angle-of-arrival (AoA), round-trip time (RTT))
  • Very good knowledge of software programming in Matlab (preferably), C or Python
  • Fluent on English (both oral and written)

General Profile

The primary objective of this new role is to manage the daily activities of the Application Engineer (AE) team assessing the technical needs of our semiconductor customers during all faces of the product life cycle; from product delivery to customers and training to integration into customer SoC/silicon tape-out and to silicon bring-up/deployment of SoC into the End Products.

 

As Application Engineer Manager of this group, you should ensure that the AE team provides customers the right level of support, thus enabling successful/on-time tape-outs and deployment of high-quality/performance SoCs into the End Products. A combination of strong software & hardware technical skills along with communication skills is essential. This is a frontline position based in the EU supported by the product development team.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead post-sales customer support activities.
  • Build a strong AE team. Set up and follow internal processes. Create and measure KPIs for the team.
  • Review Out of the Box Product Releases and provide feedback to the Product Development Team regarding Quality, Functionality and Documentation.
  • Provide strong technical expertise to customers, AE team and Product Development members.
  • Train customer engineers and/or other AEs.
  • Perceived by customers as a consultant during their development process.
  • Establish regular cadence technical review meetings with customers and leverage such meetings to gather feedback about the customers’ product plans, roadmaps, and relevant silicon requirements, and communicate intelligence to the product groups.
  • Assist customer in evaluation of silicon and/or software performance in a system.
  • Travel to customer sites is expected as safety protocols allow.
  • Make recommendations for disruptive improvement to products and roadmap.
  • Contribute to research of competition and help to assess the pros/cons of competitive offerings, then assist in generation of collateral to identify device/system-level differentiation.

Required Skills:

  • Technical knowledge of graphics processing units, applications and markets.
  • Technical expertise on SoCs, CPU and Custom Processor architectures like ARM, RISC-V, CEVA, Tensilica, ARC and MIPS, processor architectures.
  • Hardware design skills with the ability to guide customers’ hardware architectures.
  • Embedded Software programming experience with a solid foundation in software aspects of solution (e.g. RTOS, Linux, OpenGL/CL and abstraction layer), including enablement from 3rd party providers.
  • Leadership qualities with ability to facilitate both direct and matrix organizations in completing projects to specifications and on schedule.
  • Capable of challenging status quo to affect improvements and changes that will enhance the product and revenue with a strong influence & interpersonal skill.

Micrel Medical Devices SA is currently looking for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our R&D team and lead the mechanical engineering activities for the development of state of the art infusion devices. This person will work on new, exciting products and technologies, throughout the product life-cycle: from early concept design to product release.

 

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

  • Lead end-to-end mechanical design of reliable, small, safe, easy to use, easy to manufacture infusion devices, involving the following mechanical disciplines: ergonomics, electromechanical system design and verification, part design (molded, formed, and/or machined), materials selection, manufacturing process design, process validation and general production support
  • Design efficient, reliable and accurate infusion mechanisms and sensor measuring systems
  • Develop CAD (SolidWorks) product models
  • Subcontract and oversight the prototype/serial tooling development for the production of medical device parts, like thermoplastic injection molds
  • Develop product prototypes (including 3D printed parts), production and test
    fixtures/equipment
  • Create and update mechanical drawings (or delegation and oversight)
  • Support the design transfer to production including the set-up and verification of the manufacturing process
  • Technical writing in support of design inputs, design outputs, qualification activities and regulatory requirements
  • Work with cross-functional teams to define system requirements that are appropriate, realizable, and testable and contribute in the product risk management activities
  • Participate in design reviews

 

WE ARE LOOKING FOR PEOPLE WITH:

  • Mechanical engineering or other relevant engineering degree
  • 7+ years of industry experience in product design preferably within the medical device industry
  • Proficient in mechanical CAD design in SolidWorks
  • Plastic part design for thermoplastic injection molding experience is a must
  • Experience in product development projects from concept through to completion
  • Broad understanding of engineering principles as applied to complex electromechanical systems
  • Demonstrated experience in rapid prototyping with various tools (3D printers, CNC machines, CAM/CAE)
  • Working knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing
  • Experienced in the use of lab measurement tools (i.e. calipers, gages, etc)
  • Experience with Finite Element Analysis (FEA) is a plus
  • Experience in requirements management, risk management, verification & validation, technical leadership.
  • Strong team working ability and focus
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
  • Excellent speaking and writing in English.

GENERAL OVERVIEW:

Senior Analog Design Engineer with expertise on high-performance analog circuits. Responsible for specification, architecture, design and development of analog integrated circuits from initial concept through production ramp up. The successful candidate in this role will do high-performance, transistor-level design, starting from initial specification, through design and layout supervision, silicon evaluation and characterization to final product introduction to market.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop and implement CMOS/SOI/BiCMOS analog circuitry such as high precision voltage references, LDOs, filters, OPAMPs, OTAs
  • Responsible for specification, architecture, design and development of analog integrated circuits from initial concept through production ramp up
  • Define circuit requirements and complete design, from schematic, layout, and verification to characterization
  • Optimize circuits to meet specifications for system performance
  • Work closely with layout engineers by providing detailed floorplan and guidance for matching and high-speed routings
  • Perform pre and post layout verification checks like EMIR and ageing simulations and optimization

Senior Analog/Mixed-Signal Design Engineer with expertise on high-performance analog-to-digital and digital-to-analog converters. Responsible for the design of analog and mixed-signal blocks inside the radio or as stand-alone products, starting from concept and transistor-level feasibility studies. Will oversee layouts and verify designs to ensure a successful tape-outs. The successful candidate in this role will do high-performance, transistor-level design, starting from initial specification, through design and layout supervision, silicon evaluation and characterization to final product introduction to market.
