The Hellenic Emerging Technologies Industry Association (HETiA) actively participated in the Innovation Greece 6.0 conference, held on January 29-30, 2025, at the National Center for Scientific Research “Demokritos” in Athens. Organized by the Smart Attica European Digital Innovation Hub and the National Bank of Greece, the event, a leading forum on research, innovation, and entrepreneurship in Greece, brought together policymakers, industry leaders, and academic experts to discuss the future of strategic technologies.
HETiA was prominently featured in the panel discussion titled “Chips Act”, scheduled on January 30, 2025. Dr. Manolis Frantzeskakis, HETiA BoD Member, represented HETiA in the discussion, highlighting the association’s crucial role in Greece’s semiconductor industry. The panel, moderated by Dr. Katerina Tzortzatou, Scientific and Accelerator Programme Officer at “Demokritos,” included insights from:
- Dr. Evangelos Gogolidis, Director, INN, “Demokritos”
- Babis Bakolias, CEO, ANSYS
- Representative from ADVEOS
Dr. Frantzeskakis emphasized that HETiA has grown from a microelectronics association into a key hub for Greece’s semiconductor firms. He highlighted Greece’s globally recognized expertise in analog semiconductors and HETiA’s role in establishing the Hellenic Chips Competence Center (HCCC) under the EU Chips Act, fostering industry-academia collaboration and supporting small enterprises.
Discussing the impact of the EU Chips Act, Dr. Frantzeskakis noted that it provides Greece with an opportunity to enhance its role in semiconductor design and manufacturing. He stressed the need for strategic investments and collaboration to position Greece on the global semiconductor map.
Beyond the Chips Act discussion, Innovation Greece 6.0 provided a vital platform for HETiA to engage in high-level networking and collaboration opportunities with stakeholders from Greece’s research, investment, and entrepreneurship ecosystem.
As part of the event, the Smart Attica European Digital Innovation Hub, in collaboration with the National Bank of Greece, facilitated discussions on key topics such as:
- The current definition of innovation in Greece
- The industries most affected and the opportunities they present
