2nd Emerging Tech Conference: Aristotle University of Thessaloniki partnered with HETiA to Elevate This Flagship Event

 

 

On the 19th and 20th of October, HETiA partnered with the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, organizing the highly anticipated Emerging Tech Conference “Edge Intelligence” 2023. The conference stands as a pioneering initiative in Greece, uniting industry and academia to explore cutting-edge technology domains.

The objective of ETCEI 2023 was to highlight the collaborative achievements of academic and research institutions, together with their dedicated researchers, working hand in hand with innovative entrepreneurial entities within the forefront of technology. The conference placed a strong focus on showcasing well-established advancements emerging from Greece’s technology landscape. The event’s program featured engaging talks, paper and poster presentations, and interactive discussion panels, all aimed at fostering a vibrant exchange of ideas and insights. Additionally, a dedicated career day was arranged to offer university students a platform for connecting with industry professionals and easing their transition into the workforce.

The event was supported by sponsors that had the opportunity besides presenting research results, to demonstrate product and services in dedicated booths, as well as to attract new talents during the Career Day.

 

 

Emerging Tech Conference was opened by Dr. Emmanuel ZERVAKIS (HETiA president), Dr. Athanasios KIRIAZIS (General Secretary for Research and Innovation), Prof. Efstratios STILIANIDIS (Vice Rector for Research and Development, University of Thessaloniki) and Prof. Spiros Nikolaidis (Physics Department, University of Thessaloniki).

 

 

The event gathered thought leaders, experts, and enthusiasts from various sectors to explore the future of emerging technologies. The 1st day included:

The day ended with a networking cocktail, where participants discussed their research efforts and explored new opportunities for synergies and collaborations.

with the Career Day’s scheduled activities to be followed by the HR pitches of sponsor companies – their representatives could be met in the conference’s foyer in dedicated desks and answer questions of interested students.

 

 

The second day included more invited talks and concluded with a roundtable titled “connecting industry to academia” with participants from RENESAS (Mr. George FLAMIS), KENOTOM (Mr. Tilemachos MATIAKIS), AUTH (Prof. Stylianos SISKOS), ACADEMIA (Mr. George SAVVIDIS) and PROGRESSIVE ROBOTICS (Mr. Marios KIATOS) that sparkled a very interactive discussion on short and medium to long term measures that can bridge the skills gap towards a rapidly evolving technological labor market.

 

 

 

Dr. Emmanuel Zervakis – HETiA president made the following statement:

“We are very happy to see that the effort we put in organizing this conference attracted the interest both of the academic and industrial community to participate and that our vision for establishing such a collaboration between these two communities is appealing enough to continue towards establishing it as an annual event. I am happy to announce that ETCEI’s 2024 version will take place in Volos, in collaboration with the University of Thessaly”.
