Establishment of the Hellenic Chips Competence Centre (HCCC) Officially Announced
The establishment of the Hellenic Chips Competence Centre (HCCC), the national hub for innovation, skills development and collaboration of the semiconductor and microelectronics ecosystem, was officially announced during a press conference jointly held by the Hellenic Ministry of Development and Investments and the Hellenic Emerging Technologies Industry Association (HETiA) on July 16th, 2025. The Centre is being developed with the support of the European Chips Joint Undertaking (JU), under the “Chips for Europe” initiative of the European Chips Act.
The HCCC, which commenced operations on June 1, 2025, is part of the EU-wide network of Chips Competence Centres and aims to:
- support innovation and start-up activity in the chip sector,
- provide infrastructure for design, prototyping, and testing,
- facilitate skills development and technology transfer, and
- strengthen Greece’s position in the European semiconductor ecosystem.
The Centre is structured as a non-profit consortium coordinated by HETiA, with the participation of leading Greek research institutions, universities, and industry stakeholders. The initiative is co-funded by the European Union and the Greek Government, with a total budget of approximately €7 million.

HCCC’s first actions will be presented at the HETiA Emerging Tech Forum, which will take place on December 11, 2025, in Athens.
