LEO Space Photonics joins HETiA
19 January 2023: LEO Space Photonics became a Member of the Hellenic Emerging Technologies Industry Association (HETIA), thus joining forces with top high-tech companies from this region to help the Digital industrial ecosystem (microelectronics, embedded systems, digital technologies, IoT) of South-Eastern Europe evolve and become a versatile & credible partner in the global market.
About HETIA:
HETiA is Greece’s alliance of highly innovative industrial and academic performers, promoting digital technology proliferation and entrepreneurship in emerging technology domains. HETiA brings together more than 50 corporate and 30 academic entities involved in fast-growth areas encompassing semiconductors, connected devices, cognitive technologies and the IoT.
HETiA is the evolution of the Hellenic Semiconductor Industry Association that was launched in 2005.
About LEO Space Photonics:
LEO Space Photonics (www.leo-sprd.eu) is a start-up founded in 2018 and is based in Athens within Lefkippos Technology Park, NCSR Demokritos.
LEO Space Photonics develops optical transceiver solutions applicable to next generation satellite laser communications. Our product development focus is on high-speed rad-hard transceiver electronic integrated circuits for intra-satellite fiber optic interconnects as well as electronic-photonic transceiver integrated circuits for inter-satellite free space laser communication links.
Both products are being developed through established collaborations with end-users and semiconductor foundries. These components are considered critical in the development of high-speed and miniaturized optical transceivers; the devices that deliver the primary functions of data generation and detection within a satellite laser link. Our products can contribute to a massive increase of the inter-satellite link capacity as well as to the drastic mass reduction of intra-satellite interconnects.
LEO Space Photonics lead multi-million EU-funded projects on satellite constellations & photonic VHTS for which we design electronic and photonic integrated circuits in CMOS and BiCMOS with an approach that encompasses system architecture awareness and package/optics modelling to produce highly optimized hardware.
