Participation of HCCC at the Global Innovation Summit 2026 in Basel
The Hellenic Chips Competence Centre (HCCC), Greece’s national hub for innovation and the development of the semiconductor and microelectronics ecosystem, participated in the Global Innovation Summit, held on 6 May 2026 in Basel, Switzerland, as part of the international Swiss Biotech Day 2026 event.
HETiA, as a key organisation in the development and coordination of Greece’s semiconductor ecosystem and the driving force behind the establishment of the Hellenic Chips Competence Centre (HCCC), supported the participation of the Greek delegation at the Global Innovation Summit, held on 6 May 2026 in Basel, Switzerland, as part of the Swiss Biotech Day 2026.
The Hellenic Chips Competence Centre (HCCC) was represented by Mr. Giorgos Kotrotsios, Vice President of the Centre, who took part in high-level meetings and networking activities with leading international stakeholders from the fields of semiconductors, microelectronics, and advanced technologies. Discussions focused on strengthening Greece’s position within the European semiconductor ecosystem and identifying new opportunities for collaboration and innovation-driven growth.
This participation reflects HETiA’s broader strategic role in advancing Greece’s integration into the European microelectronics value chain and supporting initiatives aligned with the EU Chips Act framework, including the operational development of the HCCC.
The Global Innovation Summit served as a key platform for exchanging knowledge and identifying synergies across semiconductors, artificial intelligence, advanced digital technologies, and industrial innovation, further highlighting the importance of cross-border collaboration in building a resilient and competitive European technology ecosystem.
Alongside the Greek presence, several national organizations participated in the Summit, including the HBio – Hellenic Biocluster, the “Athena” Research Center, and GRNET (National Infrastructures for Research and Technology), reinforcing Greece’s coordinated presence in research, digital technologies, and innovation.
The Greek delegation’s participation was supported by the Office for Economic and Commercial Affairs of the Embassy of Greece in Switzerland.
