HETiA at the official launch of the EIT Community Hub Greece, October 22, 2025
Dr. Emmanuel Zervakis, President of the Hellenic Emerging Technologies Industry Association (HETiA) and the Hellenic Chips Competence Centre (HCCC), participated in the official launch of the EIT Community Hub Greece, held at the National Bank of Greece Headquarters in Athens. The event, organized by the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT) and supported by NBG Business Seeds, marked a new milestone in connecting Greece’s innovation ecosystem with Europe’s leading network for innovation, entrepreneurship, and sustainable growth.
Within this context, Dr. Zervakis participated in the high-level panel discussion “Empowering Greek Innovation”, together with:
- Ms. Lina Konstantinopoulou, Supervisory Board Member, EIT Urban Mobility
- Ms. Maria Loloni, Maritime and Industrial Symbiosis Programme Lead, EIT Climate KIC
- Dr. Katerina Papadouli, Head of Technology Transfer Office, Agricultural University of Athens
- Prof. Dr. Phoebe Koundouri, Director of the Sustainable Development Unit, ATHENA Research Center
Panel discussion on “Empowering Greek Innovation”
The discussion explored how emerging technologies — including AI, semiconductors, and advanced manufacturing — are reshaping Europe’s industrial landscape and how Greece can accelerate its integration into European value chains.
In his contribution, Dr. Zervakis highlighted the importance of strategic collaboration, technology transfer, and policy alignment in strengthening Greece’s industrial competitiveness and supporting the growth of its deep-tech ecosystem.

He also referred to the Hellenic Chips Competence Centre (HCCC) — established under the EU Chips Act — noting its pivotal role in advancing semiconductor innovation, skills development, and fostering stronger connections between industry, research, and public institutions in Greece and across Europe. He stressed out that it is really important to establish fabrication activities in Greece, like backend packaging, linked with local champions in their respective markets to ensure the sustainability of the endeavor. Such markets for Greece are maritime, energy and defense.

The event featured three thematic panels showcasing Greece’s innovation potential, investment priorities, and collaboration opportunities, and was attended by more than 100 representatives from across government, academia, industry, and the startup community.
