HETiA Participates in the COIN-3D Project Open Innovation Seminar
The COIN-3D Project Open Innovation Seminar took place from 25 to 27 June 2025 at the Department of Economics, University of Thessaly in Volos, bringing together researchers, industry experts, innovation professionals, and policymakers from across Europe to explore collaborative models for advancing deep-tech innovation.
Representing the Hellenic Emerging Technologies Industry Association (HETIA), Dr. Sotiris Bantas, Founder & CEO of Centaur Analytics, Inc. and Member of the Board of Directors of HETiA, delivered a presentation on the development of the microelectronics sector in Greece and the role of the Hellenic Chips Competence Centre in supporting semiconductor entrepreneurship.

His presentation, titled “Hellenic Chips Competence Centre: Supporting Silicon Entrepreneurship in Greece”, focused on the mission and strategic objectives of the Hellenic Chips Competence Centre (HCCC). Dr. Bantas outlined the HCCC’s role in developing Greece’s capabilities in the microelectronics sector, with an emphasis on facilitating knowledge transfer and encouraging collaboration among universities, research institutions, and industry. Dr. Bantas referred to the HCCC as a step toward creating the necessary conditions for fostering innovation and supporting the emergence of semiconductor-related entrepreneurship in Greece.

The seminar’s programme also included presentations from representatives of institutions such as the University of Glasgow, Trinity College Dublin, the University of Thessaly, the Institute of Entrepreneurship Development (iED), and CERTH. Topics ranged from semiconductor reliability and research funding to policy-practice linkages and digital innovation strategies.
The event provided a valuable platform for knowledge exchange and cross-sectoral dialogue, highlighting the importance of open innovation and international collaboration in shaping the future of deep-tech development in Europe.
