OHB Hellas joins HETiA
20/03/2026: OHB Hellas became a Member of HETiA, joining leading companies and organizations active in innovation and advanced technologies, with the aim of advancing satellite technologies, high-performance payload computing, and AI-enabled space systems, while supporting the growth of the Greek and European space ecosystem.
OHB Hellas is a dedicated space systems company implanted in Greece with the target to develop space business with the collaboration of the already established local space companies, institutions and universities. OHB SE holds already multiple success stories of this organic deployment in Europe.
OHB SE is one of the Large System Integrators in European Space Business, is present in several European countries with competences ranging from GEO satellites to CubeSats and supporting missions in the telecom, earth observation and scientific domain. OHB SE currently employs more than 3.000 people and is divided into 3 business areas: Space Systems, Aerospace and Digital.
OHB Hellas mon. E.P.E. (single member L.L.C), which is a subsidiary company of the German multinational technology group OHB SE based in Germany, was established in Greece in 2018 following the MoU signature in 2017 between the Greek State and OHB SE. OHB Hellas is owned 100% by OHB SE. The MoU had foreseen the establishment of a daughter company of OHB in Greece and highlights the intention of OHB and the Greek state to join the effort for building space systems in Greece under a common entity.
OHB Hellas is the first dedicated Space Systems company in Greece with the ambition to develop space business with the collaboration of the already established local space companies, institutions and universities, as well as European partners. Further, OHB Hellas’ objectives include expanding the OHB SE supply chain to Greece, to cooperate with the other OHB subsidiaries, to support bilateral collaborations between Greece and Germany in the space domain, as well as to design and integrate space hardware (satellite parts, microsatellites) in Greece.
The core technologies on which OHB Hellas is building strong competencies are in the domain of high-performance data processing including artificial intelligence (AI) on-board the satellite and in modular, flexible and reusable architectures. Technologies like High Performance Payload Computers (HPPC) coupled with a hypervisor open up new possibilities for reconfiguring satellite hardware in flight in a safe and controlled manner. This is one of the next big areas of opportunity for innovation in spacecraft operations and is introducing new business models like satellite as a service. Furthermore, as presented and agreed in the frame of the overall OHB Strategy 2025, OHB Hellas is aiming to become the center of excellence on High Performance Payload Computing (HPPC) activities, in perfect complementarity to the Group’s needs and Greece’s strengths in the domain.
