Approval of the National Component of the Hellenic Chips Competence Centre Marks a Key Step in Greece’s Semiconductor Strategy

The Hellenic Emerging Technologies Industry Association (HETiA), as coordinator of the Hellenic Chips Competence Centre (HCCC), announces the approval of the national component of the project, with public funding of €3.63 million by the Ministry of Development.

The decision, signed by the Minister of Development Takis Theodorikakos, formally activates the national pillar of the HCCC within the Operational Programme “Competitiveness 2021–2027”. This approval marks the commencement of a project of strategic importance for Greece’s semiconductor and microelectronics ecosystem and underscores the Ministry of Development’s role in shaping and implementing a coherent national policy for critical and emerging technologies.

The HCCC is a coordinated initiative led by HETiA, in partnership with top Greek research institutes, universities and scientific institutions. Its mission is to strengthen Greece’s capabilities in semiconductor technologies through structured technology transfer, access to advanced infrastructures, and the development of specialized skills and training programmes, with a particular focus on supporting startups, SMEs, and industrial stakeholders.

The approval of the national component constitutes a key step towards the development of Greece’s National Semiconductor Strategy and reinforces the country’s alignment with European priorities under the EU Chips Act.

Through the coordination of the Hellenic Chips Competence Centre, HETiA contributes to the systematic strengthening of national technological capacity and to Greece’s long-term positioning within the European semiconductor value chain.
