HETiA and HCCC Lead Greek Semiconductor Business Delegation to Brussels and imec Leuven

The Hellenic Emerging Technologies Industry Association (HETiA), within the framework of the Hellenic Chips Competence Centre (HCCC), successfully organized a two-day Greek Business & Investment Delegation to Brussels and imec Leuven, bringing together representatives of Greece’s semiconductor, microelectronics, deep-tech and innovation ecosystem.
The initiative aimed to strengthen the international presence of the Greek semiconductor ecosystem, foster strategic partnerships and create new opportunities for technology transfer, investment, innovation and industrial collaboration across Europe.
Institutional Engagement in Brussels
During the first day, the delegation visited the Permanent Representation of Greece to the European Union, where discussions focused on European semiconductor policy, the European Chips Act, available funding instruments and opportunities for enhancing Greece’s participation in the European semiconductor value chain.
The mission also included a networking reception in Brussels, bringing together representatives from European institutions, public authorities, research organizations, investors and industry stakeholders. The event provided an opportunity to exchange views on semiconductor investment, innovation and future cooperation between the Greek, Belgian and broader European ecosystems.
The delegation benefited from the valuable support of the Office for Economic and Commercial Affairs of the Embassy of Greece in Brussels and Flanders Investment & Trade (FIT), whose contribution further facilitated engagement with the Belgian and broader European innovation and investment ecosystem.
Strategic Visit to imec Leuven
The second day of the mission was dedicated to a strategic visit to imec in Leuven, following up on the HETiA–imec Workshop “Promoting Deep-Tech Innovation Through Strategic Collaboration”, held in Athens on 8–9 April 2025, which brought together representatives from imec and the Greek research and industrial ecosystem. Imec is one of the world’s leading research and innovation centers in nanoelectronics and digital technologies.
The delegation had the opportunity to engage with imec executives, program managers and technology experts through a series of presentations and focused discussions addressing key areas of strategic interest, including advanced semiconductor technologies, the EU Chips Design Platform, advanced packaging and silicon photonics, technology commercialization, venture creation and deep-tech startup acceleration.
The visit provided a valuable platform for direct exchange between representatives of the Greek semiconductor ecosystem and imec, enabling participants to explore potential avenues for research and industrial collaboration, technology transfer, joint innovation activities and participation in future European initiatives.
The program concluded with a guided visit to imec’s state-of-the-art cleanroom facilities, offering participants first-hand insight into world-class semiconductor R&D infrastructure and advanced manufacturing capabilities.
Through initiatives of this kind, HETiA and HCCC continue to reinforce the international presence and connectivity of the Greek semiconductor and deep-tech ecosystem, fostering stronger links with leading European research, technology, innovation and investment networks and creating new opportunities for long-term strategic collaboration.
